How you benefit

UKAEA has the broadest experience of the widest range of wastes in the industry. As a result, there are very few LoC and waste packaging issues we have not dealt with. We understand that gaining LoCs at each stage of the delicensing process minimises risks associated with waste management projects, making it more likely that a Nuclear Installation Inspectorate (NII) licensed instrument will be granted. Our record is based on the receipt of over 70 Letters of Compliance, proving that not only do we understand the requirements of the assessment process, but that we are able to apply this understanding to a diverse range of wastes and wasteforms. UKAEA has the experience and expertise to:

  • Develop fit-for-purpose and pragmatic packaging strategies that comply with regulatory requirements while taking account of specific waste characteristics
  • Provide guidance on requirements for interim storage of waste packages, taking account of LoC commitments
  • Ensure compliance with LoC requirements during waste processing through to technical process auditing
