The Work Task Database (WTD) is an integrated decommissioning and waste recording solution that provides full traceability from source to final disposal. WTD uses web-based technology to provide a user interface that is platform independent and can be made available over the internet/intranet.

WTD was developed to simplify decommissioning and waste handling procedures, and provide comprehensive recording of plant inventory, associated decommissioning tasks, risks, worker exposure and waste generation.

UKAEA can design and configure a decommissioning and waste recording system that meets specific needs, complete with operator training. Based on MySQL/ASP Platform, it is a fully configurable web application that has been developed with direct input from end users. It interfaces with both Common Waste Information Database (CWID) and plant- based SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems. WTD offers role-based security and eliminates duplication of data input and storage.

The integrated document management module manages associated risk control documents through a structured approval route and can be linked by individual or group of tasks.
The database application also conducts and records full environmental monitoring, and full waste content analysis, and provides full traceability from production residue or decommissioned item right through to final waste consignment. In addition, WTD keeps a complete record of the work tasks that generated the waste – allowing data import from external monitoring and production systems, and data export to external waste management systems.
