Technical Officers
SALARY RANGE TO £45k (more may be available for candidates with appropriate skills)
Technical Services Group (TSG) provides consultancy to both the UKAEA Group and external customers on all aspects of nuclear facility decommissioning, fuel and waste management and contaminated ground management. Individuals are required to strengthen TSG’s capabilities.
There is flexibility for the work to be performed at any of UKAEA Ltd’s premises.
Main Responsibilities
To assist in the provision of advice and support to the UKAEA Group and external customers on a wide range of technical areas, this may include the following:
Preparation of NIREX 'Letters of Compliance' submissions and technical support to waste packaging projects on waste characterisation, waste encapsulation and waste management.
Support to decommissioning projects in the development of decommissioning strategies, optioneering/BPEO studies, application of BPM and production of various other documents to support decommissioning.
Support to environmental land restoration projects including management of contaminated land, contaminated land safety cases and site investigation
Development of best practice on decontamination, care and maintenance, waste minimisation, contaminated land and waste management
Providing technical input to Business Development teams involved in generating internal and external work.
Undertaking external work as required.
Management of the delivery of multifaceted external contracts requiring co-ordination of a number of different resources.
Requirements
A good science, environmental sciences or engineering degree (alternative suitable qualifications and experience may be considered in lieu of this)
Organisational skills to manage a number of different projects and tasks being undertaken simultaneously
Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build good relations with customers
Good IT skills
An understanding of existing plants and infrastructure on UKAEA sites is desirable
Some travel, including overseas travel, may be required
